SCIENTIFIC MEDICAL CENTER "DOSLID"

"DOSLID" is a leading biomedical research center for translational medicine in Ukraine, specializing in the study of the biological mechanisms of mental health in the context of war.

We conduct in-depth investigations into the consequences of psychological trauma, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD (CPTSD), major depressive disorder, and anxiety spectrum conditions.

STRESS AND AGING

A distinct focus of our research activity lies in examining the impact of chronic stress, particularly combat-related, on biological aging. We aim to understand the long-term effects of trauma and identify strategies to slow down age-related changes.

Specifically, we employ multi-omic laboratory methods to analyze epigenetic changes (DNA methylation), biomarkers of senescent cells, disruptions in neuroplasticity, and systemic inflammatory responses.

These approaches enable us to study the mechanisms of accelerated aging induced by psychological trauma and identify molecular targets for potential therapeutic interventions.

DIAGNOSTICS & ANALYTICS

We are committed to advancing evidence-based medicine and integrating cutting-edge diagnostic and analytical tools into clinical practice. Through innovations in research methodology, digital data processing, and interdisciplinary approaches, we are shaping new pathways for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders — both in Ukraine and globally.

OUR PROJECTS

Ukrainian National Initiative for Trauma Study (UNITY)

UNITY is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary research initiative that combines clinical, psychometric, and biological approaches to comprehensively study the effects of military trauma on mental and physical health throughout life.

  • MORE DETAILS
MORE DETAILS

The initiative investigates the impact of full-scale war in Ukraine on military personnel and civilians, adults and children, combining mental health assessments with analyses of neurobiological, metabolic, and immune processes. This integrated approach provides a deeper understanding of how psychological trauma interacts with the body, development, and recovery processes.

UNITY was created as a Ukrainian scientific platform in collaboration with international partners, with a focus on building an evidence base for clinical care, rehabilitation, and long-term solutions in the field of mental health in wartime and post-war recovery.

Main areas of work:

  • mental disorders associated with trauma (PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders);
  • traumatic brain injury and neuropsychiatric consequences;
  • biological and molecular markers of stress and trauma;
  • psychometrics, diagnostics, and adaptation of assessment tools;
  • the impact of war on parents, children, and intergenerational processes;
  • Recovery, rehabilitation, and effective interventions.

Research within the initiative:

RESEARCH PROJECT

Validation of the International Trauma Interview (ITI)

The DOSLID scientific team translated the International Trauma Interview (ITI) — a newly developed clinical tool for diagnosing PTSD and CPTSD based on ICD-11 criteria — into Ukrainian. The translation has been approved by the instrument's original developers. Currently, the team is conducting a validation study within the Ukrainian population.

SCIENTIFIC STUDY

"Study of Epigenetic and Metabolic Mechanisms of Mental Health Disorders in Individuals Exposed to Psychological Trauma Due to Warfare: Impact on Aging and Longevity"
  • DETAILS
DETAILS

Project duration – 1.5 years
As of early 2025:

  1. Involvement of 650 patients with the collection of biological material for further testing,
  2. Collected samples were tested for biomarkers of chronic stress.

  3. Additional analyses were conducted to assess levels of senescent cell biomarkers and DNA methylation.

  4. Based on the obtained results, four scientific manuscripts have already been prepared for submission to international peer-reviewed journals.

Partnerships

UNITY is implemented in collaboration with Ukrainian and international academic, clinical, and research institutions.

We are open to collaboration with scientists, clinicians, institutions, and public organizations that share our scientific and ethical principles.

Scientific research:

SCIENTIFIC STUDY

“Single-Center Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Clinical Trial of Ketamine-Assisted Integrative Psychotherapy in Veterans with Treatment-Resistant Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)”

  • DETAILS
DETAILS

DOSLID was actively involved in the research team of this study, contributing to:

  1. Definition of the study’s objective,
  2. Formulation of the research tasks,
  3. Development of the methodology,
  4. Design of the trial protocol.

The team carried out a thorough selection of tools for data collection and analysis, ensuring compliance with contemporary scientific and clinical research standards.

Additionally, the research team successfully obtained ethical committee approval, confirming adherence to ethical principles and the protection of participants' rights throughout the study.
